YUVA MILANA – TOWARDS BRIGHT FUTURE

KJES Youth works along with the Province commission for Ecology & Justice organised Yuva Milana, a three-day programme from November 22nd to 24th, 2024, at Bembala – Outreach Centre, Nelamangala, Bengaluru. The event brought together 250 youth from mission stations across Karnataka, including Mundgod, Anekal, Bijapur, Sindagi, Manvi, and Hangal. They were accompanied by Jesuit priests, animators, and social workers who enriched the experience with their guidance and support.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr Fr Daniel Fernandes SJ (Vice President – BJES) and Fr Jerald D’Souza SJ, Fr Joel Fernandes – marking the start of an inspiring event aimed at empowering the youth. One of the key highlights of Yuva Milana was the engaging sessions by notable guest speakers. Actor and activist Chetan Kumar spoke passionately about the values of Dr BR Ambedkar, the Indian Constitution, and the importance of reservation. Transgender activist Dr Akkai Padmashali held a heartfelt session on human rights, sharing her inspiring life journey and the challenges she overcame. Lieutenant Colonel Bhavya Narasimhamurthy motivated the participants with her insights on building a successful career, while Mr Sanjay, Manager at ITC, provided valuable guidance on career planning and job opportunities.

Jesuit priests and social workers from various mission stations shared updates on their development initiatives, inspiring the youth to reflect on how they can contribute to their communities. Participants also engaged in group dynamics, sharing sessions, games, and nature meditation, fostering personal growth and camaraderie. As a part of their commitment to ecological preservation, the participants also planted saplings, symbolizing their dedication to maintaining and nurturing the environment.

Evening cultural performances showcased the talents of the youth, adding vibrancy to the programme. The experience concluded with visits to Bengaluru’s iconic landmarks, including the ISKCON Temple, Chinnaswamy Stadium, Lalbagh Botanical Garden, and Cubbon Park, offering participants an enriching blend of exploration and reflection.

Under the leadership of Fr Joel Fernandes SJ, Fr Jeralad D’Souza SJ, and the dedicated support of KJES Youth Animators, Yuva Milana was a resounding success, inspiring participants to face future challenges with resilience, confidence, and a renewed sense of purpose.
