ORIENTATION PROGRAMME AT
ST XAVIER'S PU COLLEGE, KALBURAGI

An orientation program was conducted at St Xavier’s PU College, Kalburgi, by five passionate animators from the Karnataka Jesuit Educational Society (KJES) Youth Works. The day began with a formal stage program hosted by Mr Noble Raj – HOD Department of Commerce, who served as the emcee and welcomed the dignitaries and resource persons. Rev. Fr Maxim Misquith SJ, Superior of the Institutions, addressed the students with an encouraging message to begin the academic year with purpose and commitment. Rev. Fr Robert Rodrigues SJ, Principal of St Xavier’s PU College, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the values and expectations of the institution.

Also present on stage were Rev. Fr Anand Prabhu SJ, Fr Roshan Pinto SJ, Fr Joseph Jerald SJ, heads of various departments, and Mr Shaik Salman.

The sessions began with an ice-breaking activity to energize the students and help them get comfortable. Mr Merwin Mathias then spoke on the theme of leadership, highlighting why being a leader is essential in today’s world. He connected this with the rich legacy of Jesuit education and how it nurtures leadership grounded in values and service. Following this, Mr Shaik Salman gave students a broader understanding of who the Jesuits are, the mission behind their work, and an overview of their educational institutions across Karnataka. His session helped students feel a deeper connection with the institution they are now part of.

Mr Amith Pereira led the next session through an interactive case study, which concluded with a powerful message on the importance of accountability and taking responsibility for one’s actions. After the lunch break, Ms Albina Mary delivered a motivating session on goal setting and preparing for competitive exams. She offered practical tips and inspired students to build a clear vision for their future. The final session of the day was taken by Ms Nelisha Lobo, who addressed the impact of media on youth. She emphasized how students’ media habits influence their mental well-being, decision-making, and future outcomes

Throughout the day, the animators made sure to maintain a lively atmosphere by engaging students in fun activities and action songs. These moments brought joy, helped in bonding, and ensured high energy levels were maintained. The program concluded with a formal closing ceremony and a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by a faculty member, expressing gratitude to the KJES team for their time, energy, and inspiring sessions. The day was a memorable and meaningful start to the students’ journey at St Xavier’s.
