AICUF at CAYLA 2025:
Representing Youth Leadership on a Global Stage
Karnataka Jesuit Youth Ministry takes pride in the participation of Shaik Salman and Nelisha Lobo, Youth Animators of Karnataka Jesuit Youth Ministry and active members of AICUF and KJES Youth Works, who represented AICUF India at the Catholic Youth Leadership Academy (CAYLA) Programme 2025. Organized by IMCS Asia Pacific in collaboration with the International Youth Training Centre (IYTC) in Chom Thong, Chiang Mai, Thailand, this international leadership initiative was held from January 21 to January 31, 2025 and brought together young leaders from across world.
The CAYLA Programme provided an enriching platform to engage in discussions and workshops on Catholic Social Teaching, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Youth Empowerment, Social Justice, Environmental Sustainability, and Faith-Based Leadership. Through interactive sessions, group activities, and cultural exchanges, Salman and Nelisha actively participated in learning, collaboration, and leadership development, strengthening their commitment to social action and youth empowerment.
Representing AICUF at this prestigious event was an immense honor. Salman and Nelisha shared the mission and vision of AICUF, highlighting its dynamic role in faith-based activism and social justice initiatives. Engaging with youth leaders from diverse cultural backgrounds provided valuable insights and innovative ideas to strengthen AICUF’s and KJES Youth Works’ impact in India. A significant highlight of the program was the village exposure camp in Maithya village, where participants stayed with local families, immersing themselves in a simple yet profound way of life. This experience reinforced the importance of grassroots leadership and servant leadership—leading with humility, compassion, and a deep commitment to the marginalized.
Returning from CAYLA 2025, Salman and Nelisha bring renewed energy and a strengthened vision for AICUF and KJES Youth Works, reaffirming that when young people come together with passion and purpose, they can truly create a hope-filled future. KJES Youth Works congratulates them for their active participation and for representing the movement on an international stage, carrying forward the mission of youth empowerment and leadership.
